Topic: Life After The Wedding – The Married Life

What are the things you want them to know about life after the wedding?

Aggie is in serious mode. Hehe! Anyway, here it goes…

Brief background muna…We celebrated our 3rd year anniversary just last month. But even if it’s our 3rd year already, we only spent one year together (as in physically together for the whole year) which started just last year. Paul left one week after we got married and went back to Taiwan. He only goes home on special occasions and stays for maximum of one week. He only went home for good just May of last year and that’s when I started feeling I do really have a husband. Hehe!

And since then, I learned a few things about married life:

  • That you really get to know the person more once you’re living inside one roof. There are times that you don’t seem to agree with what the other thinks but you compromise and adjust to one another
  • That marriage is not always perfect – you both have to work to make it perfect
  • That communication is very important. You have to tell your partner whatever it is that’s bothering you, whether it’s petty or not. Don’t keep it to yourself or else you’ll find yourself buried in resentment. Open up so that both of you can work out your differences
  • That doing little things to make your partner feel special matters – small as it may seem, it helps in fostering the romance. I love it when Paul prepares our breakfast, or wakes up in the middle of the night to prepare milk for our son, or hugs and kisses me for no reason.
  • That sometimes money is a problem but you should never fight over it. Learn to budget wisely so there won’t come a time that you’ll have no money. Blessings will come when you least expect it.
  • That you should love, respect, and trust your partner no matter what.
  • That marriage without God in the center is nothing.
